Here's what Spectrum Break Thru is about:
Mission: we aim to empower individuals with disabilities by providing the tools and resources they need to reach their full potential - every person deserves the opportunity to thrive and contribute to their community.
Goal: through education, advocacy, and support, we work to break down barriers and build a more inclusive society - promoting independence, self-determination, and a sense of belonging.
Social connection: we're a social group where members share experiences and memories, and where individuals with diverse abilities can interact with one another to build independence in group settings.
Workforce integration: a specific purpose of Spectrum Break Thru is helping individuals with disabilities integrate into the workforce.
Ethical practice: we use practices that are backed by other organizations to stay ethical, compliant, and moral, and we're glad to provide references for any of our services - just reach out with questions.
Person-Centered Planning: one of our core practices is Person-Centered Planning (PCP) - a process for selecting and organizing the services and supports a person may need to live in the community. It's directed by the person who receives the support. Reference: https://acl.gov/programs/consumer-control/person-centered-planning
Documentation: we maintain resources at https://spectrumbreakthru.org and on GitHub - GitHub tends to be easier for us to organize quickly, so check there for the most up-to-date information or beta versions.
A note on our routine tools: examples on this site, such as the calorie count feature, are for general reference only. Please check with a qualified professional before using them for any medical or dietary decision.
